Entry #2. Called to Serve

The summer of 2016,  I went on the trip of a lifetime. I traveled to the Dominican Republic to help serve 'Del Corazon de Jesucristo' a non-profit Christian ministry.  A doctor and his wife from my church, have a medical, sports, and education organization in a small town called El Catey in the Dominican Republic.

These are pictures of the campus which began as a dream in a little shack and grew to this amazing campus. The property includes a pristine baseball field that was made possible by grants given by the Arizona Diamondbacks Organization, classrooms, a covered pavilion, and a medical clinic.

Dr. Steve and Julie Dorsey welcomed a group from my church to help run a Vacation Bible School for a week. Our team joined young men from North Carolina, New York and Hawaii who were there for the summer to run a little league program for the summer.

The mission of our trip was to share the love of Christ with the children of El Catey, to accomplish that goal, we started off the day with a bible study breakfast together with our team. We then cleaned the campus and got ready for the children to arrive. Once the Children arrived, we began the program with worship followed by a teaching and then ended with playing games.

Going to the Dominican truly changed my outlook on life, I learned to be grateful for what I have and that serving others brings pure joy. I look forward to sharing more in-depth details of my trip with you!

  1. This was a good opportunity to blog about a topic connected to your first essay. The more you think about and write about a topic, the easier it becomes and the clearer your ideas can be expressed.

  2. Wow what an exciting opportunity to have! How many kids were at the worship? Did you travel by plane?
